LWG GOLD-CERTIFIED SUEDE AND LEATHER:
This certification signifies that our suppliers are responsibly managing chemical and physical waste. On top of that, it confirms that our leathers are free from toxic chemicals such as chrome-6, which is harmful to humans and the environment.
We opted for breathable, durable mesh that’s woven entirely from recycled fibers. This decision effectively eliminated the need for virgin mesh, which releases far more greenhouse gases and uses much more water and energy during the production process.
We achieved the deep hue of our ‘Mocha’ Retro Runner using a centuries-old vegetable-tanning process that’s gentle on the Earth. What we really love about this leather is that it develops a rich patina over time, so the look gets better with every wear.
KOIO RECYCLED™ [68 TPU] OUTSOLE & KOIO RECYCLED™ [30 EVA] MIDSOLE:
We gathered excess sole trimmings from neighboring factories in Italy and re-inserted them into our sole-making process. This keeps high-quality materials from ending up in landfills and minimizes the need for virgin materials that require large amounts of petroleum, energy and water to produce.
